The US State Department announced on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's administration has revoked more than 300,000 visas to enter the United States during his second term as part of a tough campaign against immigration.

State Department spokesman Tommy Figo said in a post on the subject.

The number represents an acceleration in the pace of visa cancellations over the past few weeks, as the ministry estimated, in an update published on August 10, the number of visas canceled since the start of Trump's second term in January 2025 at more than 175,000 visas.

Among the cases that drew criticism from human rights defenders were the cancellation of visas for foreign pro-Palestinian demonstrators who participated in demonstrations against Israel's genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
