On Monday evening, Israel attacked the Netherlands after the local authorities in the Dutch municipality of Alkmaar insisted on preventing fans of the Hapoel Be'er Sheva team from coming to its match against Alkmaar in the European Football League, scheduled for October 15, due to "security reasons".

The Israeli Foreign Ministry claimed in a statement that the decision "rewards those who incite violence", linking the decision to what it described as the rise of "anti-Semitism" in the Netherlands, and considering that banning fans, in addition to boycotting the Eurovision contest, represents "another stain on the record of the Netherlands".

The decision came in light of previous tensions related to the participation of Israeli teams in the Netherlands, as in November 2024, Amsterdam witnessed unrest following a match between "Maccabi Tel Aviv" and "Ajax", which was preceded by racist and obscene chants by Israeli fans against Palestine and the Arabs, and acts of vandalism and the dropping of the Palestinian flag.
