The Portuguese Football Federation decided today, Saturday, to suspend Cristiano Ronaldo as a precautionary measure and open a disciplinary investigation against him, against the background of his leaving the national team's camp without permission on September 30 last year.

The Federation's Disciplinary Council explained that the case will be transferred to the Disciplinary Investigation Committee as a matter of urgency while maintaining the confidentiality of the details of the proceedings until the end of the investigation.

The move comes after Ronaldo left the team's camp in Copenhagen before facing Denmark, following a dispute over his role in the starting line-up and the number of minutes he played.
