The Minister of Education, Edward Jeffrey, announced that approximately 400 schools will remain closed on Friday, due to the protests, and that they will continue to teach remotely, noting that 170 students and 65 employees in the education sector have been infected since the beginning of the protests, which expanded, as of Thursday, to universities, as the student union reported the establishment of barriers at 30 surrounding universities.

On Thursday, French Prime Minister Sébastien LeCorneau called a crisis meeting following widening protests over school conditions, while students demonstrated peacefully to protest dilapidated buildings, overcrowded classrooms and a shortage of teachers. In other areas, acts of violence, vandalism and attacks on buses and their stations were recorded, and the police used tear gas in some places.
