US President Donald Trump on Wednesday denied the existence of economic problems stemming from his administration's decisions, including the Iran war, and attributed the drop in his performance rating to his weak presentation of what he described as good conditions in the country, stressing that "the country is in the best shape it's ever been."

Trump said during an event at the White House on the occasion of "Hispanic Heritage Month" that his performance "has been very poor in explaining the good conditions of the country," at a time when the midterm elections scheduled for next November are approaching. He urged his supporters to vote, noting that the ruling party usually loses seats in Congress during the first election after a presidential election.

Public opinion polls showed a decline in Trump's assessments of his economic management amid rising energy prices, while the Conference Board reported that American consumer confidence fell last September to the lowest levels in about 12 and a half years, with families anticipating a decline in business and labor market conditions over the next six months.
