Yesterday, the United States began implementing a ban on the entry of a number of Canadian products, including alcoholic beverages, dairy products and motorcycles, in a new step in the escalation of the trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa, aimed at imports worth about a billion dollars.

The ban, which came into effect at 00:01, included all types of alcoholic beverages, in addition to cheese water and large motorcycles with a volume exceeding 800 cubic centimeters.

On September 8, the administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced its intention to act, after Ottawa imposed new tariffs on American products in response to additional tariffs imposed by Washington on Canadian exports.

Trump said Monday that Canada has treated the United States "unfairly," and described dealing with it as "extremely difficult," while justifying the ban on the import of alcoholic beverages in what he described as discrimination against American products in Canada.
