Iran announced on Monday that it has filed a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), against the backdrop of the American restrictions imposed on Iranian aviation, at a time when its flights are facing increasing restrictions in several countries.

The official Iranian news agency "IRNA" quoted the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority, Abuzar Shiroudi, as saying that Tehran is pursuing legal and diplomatic means in order to remove the restrictions and resume flights on routes that were active in the past.

Shiroudi added that his country submitted a complaint to the international organization regarding the American restrictions, and handed over documents related to the issue, without clarifying the nature of the steps the organization intends to take regarding the complaint.

The Iranian official noted that direct flights from Iran to European countries are facing restrictions, and pointed out that flights through regional centers, especially Istanbul, are an alternative for Iranian passengers.
