On Sunday, British police declared a "major accident" in the village of Walford, near Fairford Air Force Base, in southwest England, and began evacuating a number of residents while imposing a security fence around the area.
The London police confirmed the arrest of 5 people on suspicion of planning a "terrorist" act, and explained that the counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation of an incident that occurred at night near the Fairford base of the British Royal Air Force in Gloucestershire.
The police explained that the base is also used by the US Air Force, while the village of Wilford is located near the military facility.
Sky News quoted Gloucestershire Police as saying they had arrested several men on suspicion of offenses under the Explosives Act, following the tightening of security measures at Fairford Air Base.
