Manchester City president Khaldoun Al-Mubarak said on Saturday that the club was still confident of its ability to prove its innocence, after media reports that it had been found guilty of 114 breaches of the English Premier League's rules related to financial matters.

In an open letter to the fans, Al-Mubarak emphasized that the proceedings of the case have not yet ended, and that the club's confidence in proving his innocence "remains as strong as it was when this case began", and called on the fans to be patient, given the confidentiality of the legal proceedings that limit his ability to respond.

City are expected to appeal the independent commission's decision, after the club renewed its denial of wrongdoing in a statement on Friday, while the English Premier League said the case was confidential and would not comment on it.

The league referred Manchester City to an independent commission in February 2023, regarding alleged violations that lasted from the 2009-2010 season to the 2022-2023 season, the most prominent of which was the failure to provide accurate financial information, including sponsorship revenue and operating costs, during the 2018-2009 seasons.
