On Monday, the Hend Rajab Foundation for Human Rights filed a criminal complaint in Italy against an Israeli soldier spending his vacation in the country, for charges related to the commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The organization's announcement stated that it filed a criminal complaint in Italy against the Israeli soldier Yonatan Shalich, and explained that the latter is currently spending his vacation in the Italian region of Tuscany and that he is a soldier in the "Tikon" company of the "Givati" brigade, under the command of the 401st Armored Brigade.

The organization, which is based in Brussels and is active in pursuing Israeli officials and military personnel through lawsuits around the world, reported that among the accusations directed at the Israeli soldier is his participation in the siege and destruction of the Shifa medical complex in the al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City during March and April 2024, in addition to his participation in the Harez Mosque in Ha'al. Alensar neighborhood in Gaza.
