The nation of Japan is launching its National Disaster Management Agency, with the main goal of strengthening Japan's disaster preparedness and improving coordination between prevention, emergency response, recovery and reconstruction. The agency issued an 'emergency request' calling on local governments and central offices to proactively improve disaster preparedness.
