The Chinese hyper electric car "BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme", whose cost is estimated at more than twenty million yuan (three million dollars), was involved in a serious accident during speed tests on a closed track. The incident happened ahead of the official race in the United Arab Emirates, where the team planned to officially break the 500 km/h speed barrier. The impact was so strong that the hypercar literally turned into a pile of metal, and its rear axle was completely torn from the body. Despite the fact that the car lost its course very quickly and collided with a protective fence, the driver was not injured and managed to get out of the wreckage on his own. His life was saved by the extremely strong cabin capsule (carbon fiber monocoque).
