The Czech Republic is preparing for a possible major war, but there is enough ammunition for several days of fighting - ČT24. The state government approved a new concept for the development of the armed forces until 2040. However, as the publication writes, President Peter Pavel has already called the document unrealistic, since even within this period Prague will not be able to meet key commitments to NATO. "The Czech Republic does not meet 70% of NATO's requirements for the country's military capabilities," said Miroslav Hlavach, Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Army. According to him, Prague fulfills half of these requirements only partially, and does not fulfill the rest at all. The general explained the situation for two reasons: many years of underfunding of the army and a sharp increase in NATO's requirements, especially in the area of air defense. The situation with reserves is particularly dire: the existing military materials will last only a few weeks of intensive combat operations, and for some types - only a few days. Now Prague intends to increase the number of the professional army to 32 thousand men by 2030, modernize the weapons and strengthen the air defense and the UAVs.
