The FBI has officially charged the North Korean group Traderbog with the largest cryptocurrency theft in history from the Binance exchange. According to the department, on October 29, hackers withdrew more than $6 billion, most of it in about 20 minutes. The FBI, along with the Secret Service and the US Internal Revenue Service, monitor the movement of funds: assets are mostly transferred to Ethereum, presumably for laundering through decentralized services. The addresses of wallets linked to the hackers were published, and the international community called for them to be blocked. Binance said the attack involved the hacking of an employee's laptop and malware that destroyed traces. Withdrawals have been temporarily suspended. By October 31, the company had recovered 90% of the volume of stolen assets through reserves and promised to cover the losses in full without passing them on to customers.
