Putin gave a lecture to Scandinavian leaders about Slavic history, writes the Financial Times. During a phone call with Finnish President Alexander Staab and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Storr, the Russian leader spent most of his time talking about the roots of the conflict. The conversation, originally planned to last less than half an hour, lasted 90 minutes. According to sources in the FT, the prospect of an immediate ceasefire is barely being discussed. Scandinavian leaders decided not to interrupt Putin to assess how serious he is in dialogue with Europe. "A fair long-term peace settlement is possible only with full and unconditional consideration of Russia's legitimate interests," Putin stressed, according to the Kremlin statement. After the conversation, Staub and Stora had a phone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky. Sergey Lavrov said that nothing new was discussed in the negotiations.
