Russia begins using the Shahar satellite network to control UAVs over Ukraine The Russian Shahar satellite communications system, a Starlink analog, is already being used to control UAVs. 32 satellites were launched into orbit in March and July, with additional launches planned until the end of the year. Currently, connectivity suffers from disruptions due to an insufficient number of spacecraft. In perspective, the system will enable real-time intelligence transmission and mid-flight course correction for vulnerable UAVs. By 2035, developer Bureau 1440 plans to deploy a constellation of over 900 satellites.
