German Defense Minister Pistorius warns that a transatlantic partnership is essential for security.
He stated that the Bundeswehr now has about 190,000 employees, the highest number in 13 years. If voluntary conscription continues to be successful, conscription debates will become redundant.
However, if current trends fail, Pistorius said selective recruitment may have to be considered a necessary measure.
