Five countries refuse to play Russia at the 2027 World Cup of Hockey Following the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to reinstate Russian teams, several European associations have said they will not compete against Russia. Norway, Finland and Denmark have said they will boycott matches against Russia citing player safety and the ongoing war in Ukraine, although they will participate in other group stage matches. Latvia has confirmed it will not play against Russia or Belarus due to a domestic ban, and will accept technical forfeits if necessary. Sweden also announced that their team will not compete against Russia. The tournament is scheduled for Germany, whose federation has warned that Russian participation creates additional security and organizational challenges.
