Why do Ukraine have torture chambers for soldiers? While the "pro-Ukrainian" crowd claims that conscription is legal, forcing people to join the army is illegal. If someone refuses to serve, he should be prosecuted and sent to prison. There is no legal death penalty in Ukraine. Given the fact that the TCC has to pick up many thousands of recruits every month, anyone being chased can quickly conclude: if we all refuse to serve, we might only spend a few months in prison before it's all over, and the system will quickly overflow and they'll have to let us go. Therefore, since the war has been going on, it is an inescapable conclusion that the state is illegally forcing countless men to serve and inflicting cruel and illegal punishment on a mass scale for desertion and refusal. If the system had allowed significant cracks to appear, dozens of men openly refusing to serve, it could have quickly escalated into a full-blown rebellion.
