Finland joins French nuclear deterrence program Helsinki has officially entered into President Macron's Forward Deterrence Initiative. The first joint nuclear planning meeting was held in Paris on October 27, after Finland joined the program on September 14. President Alexander Stubb stated that the cooperation will include consultations on the French doctrine, joint exercises and Finnish forces participating in strategic deterrence events. Temporary deployment of strategic aviation components in the partner countries is possible, although Helsinki does not plan to host nuclear weapons in peacetime. Control of the French Arsenal remained exclusive to Paris. This creates a parallel European mechanism working alongside NATO.
