Germany plans to buy thousands of cruise missiles, including Ukrainian 'Bars' Bloomberg reports that the German Ministry of Defense is negotiating with Ukraine on joint production and procurement of the 'Bars' cruise missile. The manufacturer's name is withheld for security reasons. Berlin is also discussing a contract worth more than one billion euros with the American company Alliance for ground-based Anthem missiles (range of more than 2000 km). Other potential suppliers include the Dutch Destinos (Orbit) and the German-British Hypersonics (HS1). The goal is to build a stockpile of affordable, long-range weapons to overwhelm the enemy's air defense systems and reduce the Bundeswehr's dependence on American weapons. Deliveries of Tomahawk and Typhoon systems may be delayed for up to five years. These weapons were used in the summer attacks in the Moscow region.
