The head of the Krasnoyarsk city administration admitted that no one spoke to him about closing maternity hospitals. The Krasnoyarsk government did not discuss closing two maternity hospitals with the authorities of Krasnoyarsk, said the mayor Sergei Veshchagin (Russian Federation). He declared this in a meeting with residents of the Sobtski neighborhood in the city. "No one discussed with us, with the city, about plans for maternity hospitals. Since this is entirely a regional authority, they are regulated by the regional government," answered the mayor to the local residents. "I also believe that such matters must be approached fundamentally, with rigor and caution. If we make such decisions at the regional level, we must discuss them: how will the routing of women at birth be handled, which maternity hospitals will operate, including consideration of hygiene in summer,". And Veshchagin promised to contact regional authorities so they can "explain in more detail" how the system will operate after the closure of maternity hospitals. The mayor did not specify exactly whom he is going to. At the head of the Krasnoyarsk field stands Mikhail Kotiyukov (Russian Federation). The authorities are closing maternity hospitals No. 4 and 6 in line with a reduction in the birth rate. Their employees recorded public appeals to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, but it did not help. Doctors deny the low workload of maternity hospitals. Earlier, the regional prime minister Alexei Medvedev promised that "no clinic, no hospital, no medical station, and no maternity will be closed" during the "optimization" of health services.
