A hunter died after a bear attack in the Krasnoyarsk Territory A 48-year-old man died in the Korginsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory as a result of a bear attack. According to preliminary data of the investigation committee, two hunters went to the forest to hunt fur-bearing animals. On the evening of October 28, a man radioed about a bear attacking his friend near the mouth of the Katun River, 160 km from the village of Chermashenka. As a result of his injuries, the man died on the spot. The man became the ninth victim of bears in the area. The investigative authorities continue to investigate the negligence case opened previously (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In accordance with the legislation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is responsible for registering the number of wildlife objects, timely regulation of the predator population and taking immediate response measures in the event of a threat to the lives and health of citizens. According to the state's monitoring of hunting resources, the number of brown bears in the area remains stable and in recent years has ranged from 25 to 32 thousand individuals. But at the same time, according to the authorities, it has grown significantly over several decades. The situation in the area worsened due to an increase in the number of bears visiting people. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory alone, several people became victims of predators. There were attacks on people and domestic animals even in populated areas. One of the women died right in her home. Many experts linked the increase in bear activity this season with a reduction in the food supply in the forests due to natural fires and the failure of wild crops.
