The Ministry of Energy announces the renewal of the water drainage insulation in the sixth sector in Deir ez-Zor after a 15-year hiatus.
Details:
The Ministry of Energy announced that the workshops of the Water Resources Administration in Deir ez-Zor will begin work on isolating and cleaning water drainage in the sixth sector, in the areas of Al-Shahil, Diban and Waij Diban, east of the Euphrates River, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the agricultural environmental drainage network and reducing environmental pollution.
The ministry explained that the works come more than 15 years after the cessation of isolation operations, which led to the accumulation of weeds, silt and standing water and the formation of swamps that caused environmental and health consequences for the people and farmers.
The works include clearing sediments and weeds and opening drains to improve water drainage and reduce its accumulation in agricultural areas, which contributes to reducing water flow and soil salinity, and reducing the spread of insects and unpleasant odors.
The ministry confirmed that the purpose of these works is to rehabilitate the drainage networks and increase their efficiency, in a way that will preserve agricultural lands and improve the environmental conditions, health and life of the residents of the area.
