Minister of Higher Education Marwan Al-Halabi: The new decrees expand the opportunities for university education and increase its spread in the provinces.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Marwan Al-Halabi, evaluated the issuance of decrees 210 to 217 for the year 2026, and emphasized that this is a step to complete the academic structure of the universities and expand higher education opportunities and their geographical dispersion.

The minister confirmed that the accreditation of the colleges of the University of Idlib and their inclusion in the legal framework for the regulation of universities constitutes confirmation of their academic career, and recognition of their role in continuing education during the years of the Syrian revolution despite the exceptional circumstances.

He explained that the creation of new colleges in the universities of Aleppo, Hama, Al-Fourt, Tartus and Takia provides students with wider opportunities to study in their provinces and regions, and supports specializations related to the needs of the labor market and development.

Al-Halabi emphasized the necessity of completing the requirements for the implementation of the decrees, ensuring the required cadres and abilities and ensuring the quality of education and academic certification.

He emphasized that the goal is not limited to increasing the number of colleges, but includes building effective university institutions capable of training skills, generating knowledge and serving society.
