The success of the experiment of operating the Arab river deck in Latakia after maintaining it to serve more than 1,000 agricultural hectares Details: The Water Resources Directorate in Latakia, in cooperation with the General Organization for Building and Construction, was able to test the passage of water in the part that underwent maintenance and isolation of the Arab river deck in the northern plain sector after years of disruptions. The experiment showed that the 130-meter-long, 800-mm-diameter deck returned to its role, with water flowing naturally from its source into the canal after filling and opening the gate at once to remove silt and sediment. The purpose of restoring the deck is to improve the efficiency of the irrigation facilities and restore their readiness, thereby increasing the continuity of water supply to more than 1,000 dunams of agricultural land and supporting agricultural activity in the area. Completion of the project work continues, which includes filling, leveling and restoration of the site in order to ensure the stabilization of the facility and its return to its proper condition. The General Authority for Water Resources thanked the technical team and employees of the Latakia Resources Directorate and the General Organization for Building and Construction, in appreciation for their efforts in completing the maintenance and restoration works of the system.
