American envoy Thomas Barak praises the approach of the Syrian leadership to hold back against the repeated Israeli invasions. Details: The special American envoy to Syria and Iraq, Thomas Barak, confirmed that President Ahmed al-Sharaa made it clear that Syria does not seek to attack Israel, and that it wants peace and reaching an agreement to normalize relations with it. Barak pointed out that Israel is tired of the suffering and what it is going through, considering that cooperation and regional understandings represent the way to end conflicts. Barak praised the restraint shown by the Syrian leadership towards Israel's repeated incursions, and emphasized that it refrains from a military response despite these incursions occurring almost every day. Barak described President Ahmed al-Sharaa as a young and good leader, and noted that Syria is facing complex challenges that include the integration of Alawites, Kurds, Druze and foreign fighters, in addition to the restoration of state institutions. Barak revealed that he is communicating with international energy companies, including ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Total, to encourage billions of dollars worth of investment in Syria. Barak explained that certain investments may require between 10 and 15 years before generating income, in the absence of guarantees.
