Emergency in the areas of Damascus, Daraa and Tartus responds to 12 reports of storms and records death and material damage Details: The teams of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management responded to 12 reports in the rural districts of Damascus, Daraa and Tartus, during the period between 16:00 and 23:00 on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Heavy rains and strong winds caused the death of a woman as a result of the collapse of a wall in the Daf al-Sakar area in the countryside of Damascus, in addition to registering material damages that required urgent intervention in the field. Field operations included rescuing a girl stuck on the balcony of a building and carrying out pumping operations for rainwater that invaded the houses. The teams worked to treat water accumulations and open damaged roads, in addition to clearing trees that fell in the wind and cleaning and restoring sewer channels and rain drains. The responses included on-site handling of a traffic accident resulting from bad weather conditions and securing its position in the direction of traffic.
