Engineer Mamoun Shamma told "Dama": More than 74 million pounds have been allocated to compensate farmers for floods and frost in Idlib.

Details: The head of the agricultural support department in the Idlib Directorate of Agriculture, engineer Mamoun Shama, revealed in an interview with the Dumma news network that the number of farmers affected by the flooding reached 949 farmers in Idlib, Jericho, Jasr al-Shohoor, Haram and Saraq. Shamma explained that the total value of flood compensation amounted to 74 million, 269 thousand and 310 new Syrian pounds, and was allocated to those whose damages exceed the specified percentage after field tests. The directorate listed eight farmers who are entitled to compensation for frost damage in greenhouses (farms in Idlib, two in Jericho and five in Haram) with a total value of 268 thousand and 506 Syrian pounds, which brought the total compensation for flood and frost damage to 74 million and 5167 thousand new pounds. Shemma pointed out that the calculation of compensation depends on the Ministry of Economy's data on the costs of producing a dunam for each damaged crop twice the area, and a compensation rate ranging from 10 to 20 percent is calculated depending on the extent of the damage instead of adopting a uniform amount. The head of the support department determined the conditions for compensation upon reaching at least 50 percent of the damage and submitting an application to the regional committee through the nearest training unit for a sensory test, emphasizing the inclusion of all those who meet the conditions without limitation to a specific category or area. Shamma announced the beginning of the distribution of payments on Monday, October 26, 2026, starting from the Masrin Cave area, in coordination with agricultural banks, funded by the Agricultural Production Support Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture. Shama confirmed that the extension of the application period more than once enabled the completion of procedures for the victims, and emphasized that all applications received were subject to a careful physical examination and were approved in accordance with the standards and percentages specified. for more
