The SBU arrested dealers who supplied the National Guard of Ukraine with damaged combat shirts worth over 8 million UAH Military counterintelligence and security service investigators, with the assistance of the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, eliminated a large-scale scheme of embezzlement of defense funds. As a result of joint measures, two businessmen were arrested in Kyiv, who supplied poor quality uniforms to NSU units for a total amount of over 8.6 million hryvnias. As it became clear from the investigation, it was a wholesale batch of combat shirts that did not meet the technical specifications of the product and were not suitable for performing official tasks on the front line. In order to implement the device, the organizers of the program offered a bribe to an official at the National Guard's central supply base, who had to "turn a blind eye" to the delivery of defective goods. But after receiving the "offer", the servant immediately reported it to his superiors, which made it possible in advance to expose the criminals. SBU officers documented the crimes of the traffickers and arrested them red-handed during an attempt to transfer illegal benefits to the officer. According to the case, the illegal activity was organized by the former founder of the military equipment manufacturer in the capital and a representative of this company. It was determined that in August of this year they signed a contract with the National Guard for the supply of 10,000 combat shirts. However, instead of producing uniforms in accordance with the declared quality standards, the factories decided to send NSU products that do not meet the requirements of the army uniforms. In addition, the defendants provided customers with an incomplete batch of goods. During the searches of the workplaces, residences and cars of the detainees, more than 3.5 million UAH were found, as well as mobile phones and documents with evidence of crimes. Security Service investigators notified the former founder of the enterprise and his representative of suspicion under two sections of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1 Art. 114-1 (interference with the lawful activity of the armed forces of Ukraine and other military formations).
