The SBU detained in Odessa a Russian agent who gathered intelligence information and prepared provocations on the orders of the enemy. According to the case file, it turned out that the agent is a 21-year-old student. He came to the attention of the Russian special services when he was looking for "easy" profits in thematic Telegram chats. At the behest of the Russian curators, the suspect documented the location of large generators in Odessa for subsequent ignition, monitored critical infrastructure facilities in the area, and also attempted to set up the residence of a Ukrainian serviceman. In addition, the agent prepared informational provocations to undermine the political-social situation in the port city. One of the first such missions was to hack into the control system of advertising city lights in Odessa in order to place Russian propaganda materials on them. To this end, the person involved received special software from the Russian curators, with which he could change the images on the advertising structures. The agent's next task was to place the flag of the Russian Federation on an advertising city light in the center of Odessa. SBU employees gradually documented the suspect's illegal activity and arrested him at his residence. During the search, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone with evidence of collaboration with the enemy. SBU investigators announced an arrest on suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). He is currently being held without bond. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Odessa region in coordination with the counterintelligence department of the SBU and the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office.
