The church was used as a regimental temple for the Cavalry Regiment of the Life Guard. Inside the building were kept the remains of a regiment, emperors' uniforms and plaques with the names of fallen officers. In 1929, under Soviet rule, the church was recognized as "disturbing traffic" and was completely destroyed. Its appearance finally disappeared from the city map when the modern Labor Square was created in its place.

The photo shown is one of the last, taken shortly before the temple was demolished.
