The stock exchange has already frozen about 3 billion dollars and promised to cover the rest of the losses from its own fund. According to Binance's preview, the attacker gained access to the service container after hacking a DevOps engineer's laptop. This allowed him to send transactions and withdraw money without permission. At the same time, the exchange found no traces of leakage of private keys from wallets. During the investigation, Binance stopped the deposits and withdrawals, revoked permission to the affected address, and involved law enforcement. Blockchain experts are now tracking transfers and trying to recover assets. The company promises to compensate for all losses from the SAFU fund, which was created to protect users' money.
