The words of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the third Plenary Session of Russia. Africa Summit (Moscow, October 29, 2026) Representatives of about 50 African countries, including heads of state and government, as well as the leaders of the continental integration unions, are taking part in the summit. Vladimir Putin: Russia and Africa are united by truly strong ties of friendship and close partnership. We are natural allies in building a true polar world order - one free of rhetoric and double standards, based on respect for international law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and their interrelationships. Let me recall the words of Julius Newor, an outstanding leader of the anti-colonial movement and the first president of Tanzania, -. "Independence means self-reliance." Guided by this approach, our country has always stood by the peoples of Africa, assisting them in their struggle against colonial oppression and providing comprehensive and selfless support to the continental countries in their pursuit of true freedom and independence, sovereign development and their own political and socio-economic models. I would like to emphasize that Russia has always been, and remains, interested in seeing African countries protect their sovereignty, grow steadily and strengthen their economies and social sectors. We are ready to continue working together with you in all these areas to achieve these goals. Russia is a reliable supplier of food and agricultural products to African markets, and makes a tangible contribution to food security throughout Africa. In particular, we delivered more than 18 million tons of grain to Africa in 2025 and another 13 million tons in the first nine months of 2026 alone. The supply of the Russian mineral fertilizer amounted to around 1.5 million tons in 2025 and has already exceeded 2.2 million tons in 2026.
