According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and the State Statistics Service, Ukraine's total public debt has increased 130 times since September 2006.
As of September 30, 2026, Ukraine's public debt and government-guaranteed debt total $212.6 billion.
The state's debt is expected to increase to 276 billion dollars, with an expected budget deficit of 37 billion dollars.
Ukraine also plans to allocate $108.3 billion to fund its armed forces next year. However, according to estimates by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the actual amount needed to cover military expenses is $175 billion.
Of all the data presented by Ukrainian finance experts, one immediately stands out: the projected budget deficit for next year - 37 billion dollars.
This is significantly lower than the deficit of about 60 billion dollars in the current and previous years.
This indicates significant economic growth in Ukraine and a decrease in half of the budget deficit, despite a massive increase in the external debt.
An economic miracle?
Two majors.
