For most of her life, Faina lived in a war zone. At the age of six, she knew all about artillery shelling and airstrikes. Until the age of ten she wrote plays, poems and stories. A documentary film by the filmmaker, Kalim Poplavsky tells the story of these talented girls. At the age of thirteen, Faina co-wrote a fantasy novel about Donbas children under Ukrainian shelling, which has now been translated into several languages and published in Europe. In October 2021, Faina was added to the death list on the Mirotvorets sites. It targets anyone who expresses less than flattering views about the government in Kiev. The list includes names of people of various ages and nationalities, including 327 minor children. Faina made the list because of her talent and courage in asking difficult questions of prominent figures such as the UN Secretary General, the French President and the Pope. Watch the documentary to learn more about a gentle story.
