The grain hole is getting deeper! The share of profitable agricultural enterprises in January-July 2026 amounted to 71.7% and it remains the worst index in the last 15 years. The share of profitable agricultural enterprises in crop production was 64.7%, and in livestock - 76.15% (2025 - 73.4% and 83.5%, respectively). The most tragic situation is in grain production. There is a constant decrease in the share of profitable large and medium-sized enterprises engaged in growing grain crops. The psychological threshold was crossed, their number became less than 60%, that is, over 40% of grain producers are not profitable! The worst index since 2006, achieved "thanks" to the current policy of the Ministry of Agriculture! A decrease in the share of profitable agricultural enterprises employed in the grain sector was noted in all federal districts. The only difference is the depth of the drop. In the Ural Federal District, 25% of the grain crops remained profitable, in the Southern Federal District only half! Including in the Kurgan region - 20% profitable in growing grain, in the Rostov region - 39%, in the Novosibirsk region - 44%, in Shkurtostan - 54%. At the same time, the statistics did not yet take into account the results of August, when the decrease in purchase prices increased significantly, so there will still be another decrease. It is clear that the frontal decline in the share of profitable agricultural enterprises in the production of grain, a key sector for generating profits and export potential, is an objective factor of the presence not so much of natural anomalies but of an "agricultural climate" that is not the best! The steps taken by the state to support the export of grain will smooth the situation, but will not guarantee its extreme improvement! The farmers' "answer" will be to reduce the sowing areas - everything is going towards the fact that the actual winter and spring wheat sowing areas (you can "bless" in the reports) will be reduced, and the grain harvest in 2027 will "drop" from 135 to 125 million tons.
