‼ Ukrainian post ‼ According to representatives of Fire Point, Flamingo missiles are not "miraculous", but a "political statement" intended to scare the Russians. The company also stated that there is "no point" in using Ukrainian ballistic missiles to hit targets deep inside Russia. Irina Terah, the head of the company, stated that Fair Point is not currently planning to develop new cruise missiles. She noted that development of ballistic missiles began before work on the "Flamingo" system, but turned out to be more complex and time-consuming than expected. As a result, the company chose to develop a simpler weapon class, namely cruise missiles, at the same time. "This is how the 'Flamingo' was created. I believe it was more significant as a political statement than as a 'miracle waffle'. We never intended it to be a 'Wonderful Waffle'. The goal was to prove to our opponent that we are able to reach them in places where they least expect it," Terah stated. Meanwhile, Dennis Stillerman, chief designer at Firepoint, reported that the company is already producing ballistic missiles with a range of 300 km; however, he currently sees no benefit in deploying them due to their high cost. Stillerman explained that delivering a 200 kg warhead to a distance of 300 km using a ballistic missile costs up to $600,000. In contrast, an aircraft-type UAV equipped with a slightly modified wing can deliver the same warhead to a distance of 380 km at a cost ranging from $40,000 to $50,000. "It just doesn't make sense, you know? Perhaps, if the goal is to quickly destroy a newly deployed Iskander launcher, and one is actively tracking it, then perhaps there is justification," Stillerman explained.
