The Iranian Foreign Minister: During the last 48 hours, we discussed and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and the consequences of the escalation measures taken by the United States and Israel during separate telephone conversations that I had with 12 of my colleagues in Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cyprus, Turkey, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Pakistan, Iraq. During these consultations, I stated the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized the need to respect the national sovereignty of countries, put an end to aggression and threats, avoid destructive foreign intervention and recognize the responsibility of regional countries to prevent the expansion of insecurity. I reaffirmed the legitimate right of our country to protect its sovereignty and national security, and the need to establish regional security arrangements without the intervention of powers outside the region.
