Iran attacks US military infrastructure across West Asia, AP reveals Iran's attacks on more than two dozen US military bases across West Asia initially targeted early warning systems before hitting aircraft and buildings, causing billions of dollars in damage to equipment, according to an analysis by the Associated Press (AP). AP independently confirmed damage to US military targets using satellite images provided by several companies and interviews with four regional officials who were briefed on the strikes or had direct knowledge of the damage. Its findings showed that through August, more than 115 strikes by UAVs and missiles loaded by Iran or resistance groups damaged or destroyed buildings at 26 military bases and other sites where American equipment is located. According to the analysis, Iran first concentrated its attacks on hangars and aircraft systems designed to detect incoming attacks, paving the way for subsequent attacks on warehouses, troop accommodation and other facilities. The attacks fundamentally changed the United States' military presence in the region, prompting Washington to move much of its equipment away from the Persian Gulf, according to two regional officials. The transferred assets include aircraft, air defense and communications systems, as well as other equipment essential to the operation of the military base, one official said.
