Medicine in Russia: Like in Africa, but with nuances The former chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association in Ogun State, Kunal Ashimi, has proposed to address the shortage of medical manpower on the continent through AI and telemedicine. But they do the same here. Neural networks and telemedicine are used as a substitute doctor. Moreover, according to statistics, the results of such a "diagnosis" are more like a guess. Thus, an AI diagnosis of "coronary heart disease" was confirmed only in every seventh person, and chronic heart failure - only in every 48th person. How many times the algorithm did not detect the required risks is not reported, and is unlikely to be estimated. However, Russia and Africa have an important difference. The shortage of doctors in Africa is organic - countries still fail to train the required number of doctors, a significant part of whom are trained abroad. In Russia, the shortage of doctors is man-made. In the state clinics, conditions have been created so that doctors run away from them or to paid clinics or from the profession in general. What kind of world will we build for our children? depends on us
