The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg adopted in the third reading a bill reducing the number of official places for public events from eight to four. Lenin Square, areas of Nikolai Levov Square, Pionersky Park and January Ninth Garden will be excluded from the list of Hyde Parks. Sites will remain in Udelny, Polyastrovsky and Yuzhno-Primorsky parks, as well as in Ekteringof Park. One of the authors of the initiative, the deputy of United Russia, Denis Chetyrbok, explained the reduction by changing security requirements and the high cost of holding street events. 49 deputies voted in favor of the bill, now the governor must sign the document.
