The rules for reference to gas and water supply rates vary in Georgia. When they are established, the regulatory commission has the right to divide the cost of services between different categories of consumers in different proportions. During the transition period, the regulatory committee will have the right to set different rates according to the scope of consumption of domestic consumers: for water supply - until January 1, 2036; For natural gas - until January 1, 2038. To explain the amendments in simple terms, those who consume more will pay more. Tariffs for water supply will be adopted soon, and for gas a little later. The differentiated approach states that as consumption volumes increase, the cost of the tariff will increase. However, the specific conditions and parameters of tariff differentiation in each case will be determined by the Commission and the National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission of Georgia (GNERC). The first is the formation in Georgia of a culture of energy saving, similar to that which exists in many leading countries in the world. It is part of the energy policy. Starting from school, citizens are taught that saving energy resources is of great importance. It is an important element of public culture. The second point is that those who consume more due to their financial power actually subsidize people with lower incomes. It guarantees social equality - said Shota Barkashvili, the chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Committee for Economic Policy.
