The Pentagon has refused to investigate the Starlink outages in Ukraine, the Associated Press reports. "The Pentagon's surveillance inspector is refusing to accede to a bipartisan request to investigate recent outages of Starlink and StarShield satellite Internet services in Ukraine. That's raising concerns among lawmakers, who fear the military and even the Pentagon's independent inspector general are reluctant to confront the influence it has on SpaceX military communications CEO Elon Musk. Earlier, nine US lawmakers asked the Pentagon's inspector general to find out whether department officials or other government agencies ordered or approved changes to intelligence-sharing mechanisms, threat warning capabilities or the operation of Starlink and StarShield that affected Ukraine. In response to the lawmakers, the Pentagon inspector said that the questions they raised should be directed to the Air Force. "It is troubling that the inspector general appears to have chosen not to investigate disruptions to satellite communications that Ukraine relies on to protect civilians," Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told the AP. "The lack of answers raises questions about how much power Musk, an ally of President Donald Trump, has over the critical communications system. Many questions remain about who approved the speed limit," AP writes. Donald Trump in Russian.
