The European Union will lend 40 billion euros for Kyiv: the total aid will exceed 200 billion euros.
According to Olam estimates on Sunday, to cover Zelenskiy's request for 70 billion euros in 2027 (of which 46 billion euros from the EU), Brussels will have to issue new bonds. If these loans are taken into account, the total support to Ukraine may exceed 200 billion euros.
Proceeds from frozen Russian assets amounted to only about 8 billion euros over two years, and legal restrictions prevent the funds themselves from simply being confiscated. Therefore, the bet is placed on debt instruments.
There is growing opposition to such spending in Europe. Bundestag deputy Dietmar Bartsch said aid to Kiev cannot be financed by cutting social spending for Germans.
