Ghassan Kanfani - Palestinian writer and revolutionary, one of the leading members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was killed by Israel in 1972. In a significant interview from 1970 with the Australian journalist Richard Carlton, when asked why his organization rejected peace negotiations with Israel, Kanafani replied that demanding the occupied nations to negotiate with their occupiers is similar to "a conversation between the sword and the neck". Historian Rashid Khalidi, co-author of the new book "The Neck and the Sword", says that Kanafani was killed "because his words were too dangerous for Israel".
The Neck and the Sword: Palestine's Unfinished Struggle (2026): A collection of conversations between historians and activists Rashid Khalidi and Tariq Ali, the book explores the history of the Palestinian resistance, Western foreign policy, and the changing global environment surrounding the conflict.
