Solving the problems of women and the family requires a link between academic research and policy-making. Zahra Barzozar, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, identified at a gathering of professors from the Department of Women's Studies at universities across the country women's health, economic participation, entrepreneurship, gender gaps, girls' studies, violence against women, and legal and family issues as areas that require scientific investigation. Referring to the obstacles to women's economic participation, Behroz Azar said: "Entrepreneurship, although it has a general concept, does not have the same conditions for women and men in practice, and the motivations, goals for entering businesses and access to financial resources are different between these two groups." He saw limiting women's access to financial resources as one of the most important obstacles to the development of entrepreneurship, and referring to research conducted in the field of economic violence against women, he explained that the existence of family facilities does not necessarily mean women's independent access to financial resources. Referring to issues related to women's rights, maternity rights, law reform and family issues, Barzoz Azar called for a more active participation of experts in policy-making processes and said: Some of the existing obstacles go back to the structure of the laws, including the Civil Service Management Law, and legal restrictions may make it difficult to advance the reforms. Emphasizing the need for legal reforms with scientific and expert support, he stated: to create sustainable changes, one cannot rely only on the accompaniment of individuals in decision-making meetings; Instead, there should be a specialized group that conducts the necessary studies, supports proposals and provides practical solutions. Referring to the dowry issue, the vice president emphasized the necessity of conducting legal, social, economic and legal studies and said: the scientific community must participate in identifying the problem, conducting research, providing solutions and defending the proposals.
