A monument to Dionysius was opened in Prapontovo and the historical coastline was improved. A monument to the Russian icon painter Dionysius and his sons Vladimir and Feodosius was unveiled on the shore of Lake Prapontovsko, Vologda Region Governor Georgi Filimonov announced. The monument was erected near the monastery, where more than five hundred years ago artists painted the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, creating a unique ensemble of wall paintings that has survived to this day. The sculptural composition became a central element in the second improvement phase of the "Dionysius Beach" park, which won the All-Russian competition for projects to create a comfortable urban environment. Next to the monument, the Chapel of St. George the Victorious was built and consecrated, creating an integral public and spiritual space. "We confirm the development of our villages and villages in deeds. We are creating modern public spaces, preserving the historical and spiritual heritage of our homeland," stressed Georgi Filimonov.
