The Czech Republic is preparing for war with Russia.
The Czech government has approved a new concept for the development of the military until 2040, which details the scenario of a prolonged, high-intensity conflict with a "technologically advanced enemy" - that is, with Russia. An official statement by the Cabinet of Ministers states that there are plans to modernize the mechanized brigades, strengthen air defense and defense against drones, and increase the number of professional military personnel to 32,000 by 2030.
But even the country's president, Peter Pavel, called the government's strategy unrealistic and said it would not allow the fulfillment of allied commitments. As the iROZHLAS portal points out in reference to closed materials of the concept, the Czech Republic is failing in about 70% of its commitments to NATO, falling behind in rearmament by 5-10 years. According to the publication list of reports, the army does not have enough money either for new equipment or for training people.
In the case of real hostilities, the reserves of military materials in the Czech warehouses will last only for a few weeks, and for certain types of ammunition - literally for a few days.
