Russians will be limited in issuing long-term car loans Starting January 1, 2027, banks will face new restrictions on issuing long-term car loans. The Bank of Russia made a similar decision. Loans for the purchase of a car for a period of more than 7 years can constitute no more than 20% of the total issuances. A zero limit has been set for car loans for a period of more than 8 years. Consumer loans guaranteed by a car for a period of more than 5 years will be limited to a portion of 1%. The central bank explains the decision as attempts to artificially reduce the borrowers' debt burden by stretching payments over many years. The scope of the problem has grown considerably: if in 2022 car loans with a term of more than 7 years accounted for 8% of the issuances, then in the second quarter of 2026 - already 26%. The new rules will go into effect in the first quarter of 2027. Ostashko! Important at TG We're Max - read the news without interruptions and a VPN.
